Monthly Drop-Test: Monday 2nd March @Midnight

Logged: Thursday 26th February, 2015 @ 15:25

Summary: Dear Customers. At midnight (0:00) on the 2nd March we will be performing our regular monthly power drop test at our Slough Data Centre. This involves isolating the mains supply to both the A side and the B side to simulate mains failure and to test the automatic changeover to generators. We will then run on generators for a period of 30 minutes as recommended by the generator manufacturers.

Doing this under controlled conditions enables us to pro-actively deal with any warnings or faults rather than trying to troubleshoot during a real mains failure. The drop in power whilst the mains is out and the generators start is very brief, and the UPS will power all servers throughout. As an additional precaution we will only disable one side at a time so that we can carefully monitor the changeover.

As such this is completely non service affecting and is being posted only to keep you up-to-date with our maintenance plans.
